Mobile Phone Chip- There are many operators (Vodafone, Reliance, AirTel, DOLPHIN, Loop Mobile, IDEA, Aircel, TATA DOCOMO) offering 'post paid' (contract) and 'pre-paid' (Pay as you go) schemes for talk time and GB data download. Police use mobile number to solve crime hence SIM cards are only issued with photos and address proof. Non residents and even foreigners with other country passports will require 2 photos, passport photocopy and mobile number of local contact and his/her address who will agree to act as guarantor. Once issued SIM will be operational in 48 hours.  In India mobile numbers are linked to Debit/credit card by banks and the moment any payment transaction is done or cash withdrawal at ATM immediately text message comes to phone.
