Srinagar: 2372km from Mumbai, under 3 hours direct flight, 6000ft, average temperatures in April 12C- June 25C,  Dal lake is 12km from Airport. Life revolves around Boulevard Road, Dal lake as ghats to go to House boats are on same road as well as many hotels and restaurants too. Four Mughal gardens are also further off main Dal lake road.

                                               Important Notes: To avoid cheats
Prepaid mobiles don't work in Kashmir by showing Aadhaar card you can get local chip for Rs 250 with 1.5GB data for 30 days.
Transport:
Car hire is only option for Airport transfer and sightseeing (see rate card below)  as there are no city buses. Auto rickshaws are available in city.
Going to Gulmarg:
Coat and boots should not cost more than Rs 100 to hire.
Cable car station is just over 1km away (proper concrete road, 15 minutes walk) from car park. One can easily walk. Often Srinagar drivers might say walking is 4km and go on pony as they get commission
Pony ride to cable cars is not necessary, some drivers say it is far and Pony ride would cost Rs 700 for 30 minutes ride as they take longer route. One can take Pony ride only if interested due to adventure.
Local guide will also approach saying it will take two hours to get cable car tickets they can get it quickly. You can get your own tickets from counter in 10 to 15 minutes.
Going to Pahalgham:
Some drivers suggest buying Saffron, walnuts, almonds would be cheaper on way to Pahalgham. It would be 30% to 40% more expensive as they get commission from shops. Lal Chowk in Srinagar would be cheaper for shopping where locals go.
2km from Pahalgham you would have to leave your Srinagar hired car and hire another car Rs 1500 to see Chandanwari, Aru Valley, Betaab valley. This is unfair monopoly not allowing Srinagar cars to go further but one has no other option other than going on Pony,
